WHAT WE BELIEVE
At The Promise Church, everything we believe begins with Jesus Christ. His life, His teachings, and His example guide how we understand Scripture, live out our faith, and love others. We believe God's Word is the foundation of truth and provides direction for every part of our lives. Our foundational beliefs reflect our commitment to biblical teaching, spiritual growth, and living a life that brings glory to God.
Our Foundational Beliefs
These 16 biblical truths form the foundation of our faith and guide our worship, teaching, and ministry.
-
We believe the Bible is inspired by God and reveals His design and purpose for humanity. Scripture is the foundation of our faith and guides how we live.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:15–17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21
-
We believe there is one true God, eternally revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10–11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22
-
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, both fully human and fully divine. Through His life, death, resurrection, and ascension, He made salvation possible for humanity.
Scripture: Matthew 1:23; Hebrews 7:26; Acts 2:22; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Matthew 28:6; Acts 1:9
-
We believe humanity was created good and in God's image, but willingly chose sin, bringing physical and spiritual death into the world.
Scripture: Genesis 1:26–27; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:6; Romans 5:12–19
-
We believe every person can experience forgiveness, salvation, and a restored relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through repentance and faith.
Scripture: Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13–15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11; Titus 3:5–7
-
We practice two biblical ordinances:
Water Baptism: Baptism by immersion following repentance and receiving Jesus Christ as Savior, representing our new life in Him.
Holy Communion: The Lord's Supper, observed in remembrance of Christ's suffering, sacrifice, and death for our salvation.
Scripture: Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47–48; Romans 6:4
-
We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a distinct experience following salvation that empowers believers to witness, serve, and live out God's calling, just as demonstrated in the New Testament.
Scripture: Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4, 8; 1 Corinthians 12:1–31; Acts 8:12–17; Acts 10:44–46; Acts 11:14–16; Acts 15:7–9
-
We believe speaking in tongues is the initial physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit, as experienced by believers on the Day of Pentecost and described throughout the New Testament.
Scripture: Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:4–10, 28
-
We believe sanctification begins at salvation and continues throughout a believer's life. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we are called to turn away from sin, grow in holiness, and become more like Jesus Christ.
Scripture: Romans 12:1–2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1:15–16; Romans 6:1–13; Romans 8:1–2
-
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all who have received salvation through Jesus Christ, regardless of denomination. Our mission is to share the Gospel, reach those who are lost, and lead others into a relationship with Him.
Scripture: Ephesians 1:22–23; Ephesians 2:22; Hebrews 12:23
-
We believe God calls and equips leaders to serve His Church. Together, believers are called to worship God, share the Gospel, serve others, and strengthen the Body of Christ.
Scripture: Mark 16:15–20; John 4:23–24; Ephesians 4:11–16
-
We believe divine healing is provided through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ and remains a privilege available to believers today. We trust in God's power to heal and seek Him through faith and prayer.
Scripture: Isaiah 53:4–5; Matthew 8:16–17; James 5:14–16
-
We believe Jesus Christ will return to gather His Church before His second coming to Earth. Those who have died in Christ will rise, and living believers will be caught up together with them to be with the Lord forever.
Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51–52
-
We believe Jesus Christ will return with His saints and establish His reign on Earth for one thousand years. During this time, His righteous rule will be established, and many in Israel will recognize Him as the promised Messiah.
Scripture: Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27, 30; Revelation 1:7; Revelation 19:11–14; Revelation 20:1–6
-
We believe a final judgment awaits those who reject Jesus Christ and His offer of salvation. Scripture teaches that they will face eternal punishment and separation from God.
Scripture: Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43–48; Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:11–15; Revelation 21:8
-
We believe God has promised a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells. All who belong to Christ will live in His presence forever, experiencing the fullness of His eternal promises.
Scripture: 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21–22
